The Columbia Gorge Health Council awards more than $1.5 Million locally for COVID Response

During the month of April 2020, the Columbia Gorge Health Council Board of Directors approved more than $1.5 Million in funding to support both health and healthcare needs in the Gorge community in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nearly one-third of the funding is for a comprehensive local public health response by North Central Public Health District and Hood River County Health Department. “Robust testing and contact tracing are paramount to successfully re-opening businesses in the region and Public Health is the lead agency in the region for this work”, said “Dr. Trey Rigert, Board Chair.

United Way of the Gorge –Covid-19 Community Response Fund received just over $130,000 from the Columbia Gorge Health Council in addition to $25,000 provided by PacificSource Community Solutions. “United Way is an excellent partner in reaching numerous local community needs”, said Mr. Erick Doolen, COO of PacificSource. “We have similar partnerships with United Way in other regions and appreciate their responsiveness in this pandemic.”

“Ensuring a vibrant healthcare network exists when the region re-opens is a paramount concern for the Columbia Gorge Health Council”, said Ms. Jenny Anglin, Executive Director, Columbia Gorge Health Council. “All of our local providers deliver essential services to community members.” In recognition of the important work they do, the Columbia Gorge Children’s Advocacy Center was also awarded $22,500
