Provide local access for children who are victims of abuse and in need of an assessment. The Columbia Gorge Children’s Advocacy Center provides medical exams and forensic interviews in a timely and trauma-informed manner to all children who are victims of abuse. With coordinated care from trained professionals, overall community health for this population will improve as well.
Postpartum Support Group
Using certified community health workers to facilitate a Spanish-speaking support groups based on the “Mothers and Babies” curriculum from Northwestern University.
Using certified community health workers to facilitate a Spanish-speaking support groups based on the “Mothers and Babies” curriculum from Northwestern University. The “Mothers and Babies” curriculum is a six-session series “that promotes healthy mood management by teaching pregnant women and new moms how to effectively respond to stress in their lives through increasing the frequency of thoughts and behaviors that lead to positive mood states. Designed as a perinatal depression prevention, the Mothers and Babies targets three specific risk factors: limited social support, lack of pleasant activities, and harmful thought patterns”. [Healthy Start EPIC Center, Mothers and Babies program description] Support groups will be offered in both Hood River and The Dalles. Support groups would be 10-12 women per session, and it would be open to all Spanish-speaking mothers of children 5 years old and under regardless of insurance status.

Farm to School food analysis is to understand the availability and consumption of nutritious food for children living in Wasco and Hood River Counties.
Farm to School food analysis is to understand the availability and consumption of nutritious food for children living in Wasco and Hood River Counties with a focus on decreasing health disparities between schools. The analysis includes completion of the OSU Extension Physical Activity and Nutrition Environment Tool (SPAN-ET) and the development/consolidation of school nutrition task forces in Hood River and Wasco Counties.

Advance Directives
Increase awareness and use of Advance Directives.
The purpose of this program is to increase awareness and use of Advance Directives in all age groups in the Gorge. The public information and outreach campaign on Advance Directives is to start of a cultural norm of having the conversation about what we wish our care to be if we are not able to speak for ourselves. The program, goals are to:
Reach at last 25% of the adults in Hood River and Wasco Counties and be representative of the diversity in the community.
Be inclusive of residents in both The Dalles, Hood River and the less populated areas of Antelope, Dufur, Maupin, Mosier, Shaniko, Tygh Valley, Wamic, Pine Grove, Pine Hollow, Cascade Locks, Odell, Parkdale, Mt Hood, Rockford and Oak Grove.
Be relevant for all adult age groups and ethnicities.
Motivate those who are 50 years or older to get an Advanced Directive in place.

Families could redeem certificates at either Northern Wasco County Parks and Recreation District or Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation District.
